US midterm election results live: Democrats win control of House and Senate

Democrats seize control of both chambers of Congress as results roll in across the country in stunning rebuke to President Trump.

Supporters react to early election results in favor of US Senator Jon Ossoff at an election night watch party hosted by the Democratic Party of Georgia after the midterms election in Atlanta, Georgia on November 3, 2026. Democrat Jon Ossoff, seen as a possible candidate in the 2028 presidential elections, on Tuesday retained his US Senate seat in the southern state of Georgia, media projections showed. The win does not represent a gain of a seat in the 100-member Senate, but is nevertheless good news for the Democrats. (Photo by ERIK S. LESSER / AFP)
